Simply to grow the finest tasting, most nutritious Mesclun Salads, Herbs, Edible Flowers and accessorized Table Vegetable is our mission.
Our unique ten acre garden location was selected for its sunny 7300 ft. elevation and its cool mountain evenings – which work to minimize insects and their damage to tender lettuce leaves. The best part of having cooler evenings is the tendency to actually slow down the plant growth… (considered a bad thing by most growers). Yet instead of being this bad thing, it was discovered that the leafy greens had significant and tangible taste quality, sweeter tastier to all that grew in the cooler temperatures - slower growth seems to allow taste and nutrients to develop within the plants.
Insuring the harvest: Nearly 70% of Cherry Creek Gardens is weather protected by two 26X96 feet “ClearSpan”- hooped greenhouse structures - protecting the crops from inclement weather, and all plant stress - such as wind and too much sun...
Building the soil: Creating a perfectly blended garden soil from the typical sandy loam soil of Colorado, was accomplished by a high blend of sheep manure mixed with peat moss. This incredibly rich blended soil mixture and the best heirloom vegetable seeds provide big healthy happy plants and bountiful harvests.
Planting: right time, right place, and irrigated with pure Rocky Mountain spring water… grows the success of Cherry Creek Gardens, providing the very finest tasting and most nutritious Mesclun salads, herbs and accompanying table vegetables available anywhere. (Market Venue)
