What's a CSA? Community Supported Agriculture is a relationship of mutual commitments and support between farmers and community members who pay the farmer an annual membership fee to cover the production costs of the farm, along with a sustainable salary. This commitment implies a willingness to share with the farmer both the bounty from the land and at least a share of the risks involved. In turn, shareholders receive a weekly share of the harvest during the local growing season.
How much produce do you get & how much does it cost?
CSAs are all different; generally the cost of a share depends on many factors: What’s being grown – when and how long it is being harvested, and what all is included.
Here at Cherry Creek Gardens, a share, including Gro-op membership, costs $999 for the 2008 summer growing season and provides a varied selection of premium seasonal organic produce and herbs, all trimmed, rinsed and ready to plate. Our main forte is Salads, herbs and table vegetables like beets, carrots, peas & beans etc. - stables like potatoes and sweet corn, melons, peppers, mushrooms etc. is gained from other growers who offers them up, at the farmers price plus handling.
