Iceland is best known for their wool around the world. The Icelandic sheep's wool is of a dual character: a fine soft undercoat (thel) & a long coarser coat (tog).
Their fiber is extremely soft to begin with and after washing & wearing, the wool "blooms" & becomes even softer.
First the raw wool is processed into roving, then extra steps are employed to make a superior product--a knitter's or weavers's dream. Cherry Creek Farm's very own artisan spins the roving into a 2 ply Sport Weight yarn and sets the twist in the farm's certified organic lavender water. Why lavender? As it has been used for centuries, lavender is a natural moth (and other insect) repellent, not to mention it's fresh, relaxing scent.
Our handspun is available in Adult, Lamb, Combination, Premium & Novelty, as indicated. Novelty Yarn is the first yarn spun by a beginner. It is irregular in size, somewhat chunky, and absolutely unique for that special project.

Cherry Creek Farm offers beautiful Purebred Icelandic Sheep & Lamb Pelts. Our sheep are raised absolutely naturally with no unnecessary antibiotics & no growth hormones or animal by-products.
If you have never felt an Icelandic pelt, you are in for a big surprise! Because there are fewer hair follicles in the skin, the pelts are more flexible & supple & when tanned look like lustrous fur from an exotic animal, unlike other sheep breed pelts. They are truly silky soft & have many uses: bedside rugs, upholstery, pet bed, doll hair, Santa beards, trout flies, yoga mats & all types of clothing including vests, chaps, & hats, to mention a few.
This Pelt is tanned to be washable by Buck's County Fur Products in PA and we will include directions when we ship the pelt.
Please e-mail me for the shipping charges to your zip code for the pelt of your choice. All pelts are shipped USPS insured priority mail.

Natural colors in every shade that you might imagine. Soft yet strong. Hand spinner or felter's dream.
Cherry Creek Farm is proud to offer some of our premium fleeces, FOR THE FIRST TIME!
Heavily skirted with very little vegetative matter.
If I could only put "jackets" on the sheep to keep them totally clean, but Icelandic fiber felts extremely easily (which is why this breed is loved by felters) so jackets are out of the question. The Icelandic breed is known for being very low in lanolin so their fleece is ideal to spin "in the grease", as many hand spinners prefer to do to get a custom colored yarn. I have made note of the fleeces that are exceptionally clean and low in lanolin that are ideal for spinning in the grease.
I hope you enjoy working with these uniquely different fleeces for your individual project.

NEW! Bulk Icelandic raw wool in different colors is now available for sweaters, socks, blankets, felting, or whatever bigger or multiple projects that you have in mind. I am trying to catch up on my wool processing (when you shear 70+ sheep twice a year, you have an admirable quantity to offer) and at the request of many of my customers, I decided to make available some of the raw wool in bulk.
I have only briefly sorted through this wool, so you might find a few tags and you will definitely find grass hay. The shearer does a pretty good job of separating the belly and face hair and second cuts. With some effort on your part, though, after scouring, you will have beautiful Icelandic fiber for your project.
It's priced extremely reasonably with a 5 pound minimum.
Please e-mail me for the shipping charges to your zip code with the quantity you'd like.
